Now we show you three portraits of the most popular activities:
School-orchestra
Music plays a big role in the school life of Goethe-School and the school is very famous for its orchestra and its conductor Ullrich Haucke. He has been directing the school-orchestra for 33 years and he earned the "Bundesverdienstkreuz" (a big honour) for his committment.
He has composed two musicals and other things and recorded a lot of CDs. Every pupil who plays an instrument can join the orchestra.
One of the best things of the orchestra is to go on "orchestra-trip" where all the musicians practise pieces of music in the wonderful village of Weikersheim five hours away from Essen.
Video
The video club has about 90 members. You can join the group no matter in which class you are. The leader of this group is Dr. Deller. The group was founded in 1988.
They have specialised on sport clips, underwater clips, advertising clips, special effects and documentaries in the environment of school.
You have also got lots of chances to meet the group after school and when they do a "video-trip".
School-library
The school library is mostly very busy. The leader of this eca is Mrs. Schmidt.
You can join the group from class 5 up to class 13. Some parts of the work are for example putting down new books in the book list and sorting the returned books. It is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the first break. If you want to become a member of this activity you can come to the meetings on Friday in the 7th lesson.
